R&D Tax Credit

What Are R&D Tax Credits?

R&D tax credits in the UK are government incentives designed to stimulate innovation and support businesses engaged in research and development activities. These credits provide eligible companies with the opportunity to reduce their tax liability or receive cash payments from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Under the scheme, businesses can claim a percentage of their qualifying R&D expenditures, such as employee wages, subcontractor fees, and consumable materials. The tax relief available differs for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large companies, with SMEs being eligible for enhanced relief. R&D tax credits play a vital role in fostering technological advancement and driving economic competitiveness.

Stamp Duty Land Tax

Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) is a tax imposed by the UK government on property transactions. It applies to both residential and commercial properties when they are purchased or transferred. The tax is calculated based on the purchase price or market value of the property, with different rates and thresholds depending on the property type and its value. The responsibility for paying SDLT usually falls on the buyer, and it is typically paid within 14 days of the property transaction. SDLT rates can vary for first-time buyers, second homes, and additional properties. The revenue generated from SDLT contributes to government funds and public services.

Land Remediation

Land remediation in the UK involves cleaning up contaminated or degraded land to restore it to a safe and usable state. It addresses pollutants and hazardous materials in the soil, water, or groundwater. The process mitigates environmental risks and protects public health, making the land suitable for development, agriculture, or conservation. The UK government provides a Land Remediation Tax Credit (LRTC) to support remediation costs. This tax credit allows eligible businesses to claim relief on qualifying expenses, encouraging investment in the cleanup and revitalization of contaminated sites. Land remediation, coupled with the LRTC, promotes sustainable development, responsible land management, and contributes to the environmental and economic well-being of the UK.

"5 Stars!"

"I was always aware that my company might be eligible for R&D tax credits, but I didn't know where to start. I did some research online and found Crown Ventures. They were very helpful and explained the process in a way that I could understand. They also offered a no win, no fee service, which was a big relief.

It's surprising to learn that only 10% of eligible companies are currently utilizing Tax Credits. This indicates that a significant 90% of UK businesses are not taking advantage of this beneficial scheme.
